Happy Texas Independence Day!

“Texas has yet to learn submission to any oppression, come from what source it may.” – Sam Houston

As the Texas Independence Day celebrations continue into the weekend, many reflect on the significance that March 2, 1836 brought to a Republic that would one day become a great State.

Bigger and Better in Texas, Don’t Mess with Texas, and Land of Opportunity are common terms you will hear describing the liberty, optimism, and perseverance that characterizes this great State. Texas inspires innovation and is a champion for freedom. Texans, from the moment of declaring their independence on March 2, 1836, have proven eager to take risks and willing to fight for their freedoms.

As we move forward throughout this year, let’s maintain the resolve to keep Texas and the United States free, protecting that for which our forefathers fought. As Governor Perry expressed “…there is still a place where opportunity looms large in this country, and that place is called Texas.” Happy Texas Independence Day!
