Tonight, Obama provided his third State of the Union Address (SOTU), beginning the discussion with an appeal to American values. Yet, this appeal was no more than a rhetorical setup that quickly turned towards the downward spiral of espousing government intervention, expansion, and oversight.
Instead of inspiring citizens to thrive in the free-market, lower taxes to facilitate prosperity, protect the unborn, provide school choice, eliminate the healthcare mandate, and promote policies that allow job growth, Obama continued to support a welfare state and class warfare that leads to national division rather than unity.
Americans are awaiting the awakening to ordered liberty and self-government. It is time to turn the tide from a social, welfare state to placing the government under the rule of law and returning it to the people. As Ronald Reagan stated: “Our government has no power except that granted it by the people. It is time to check and reverse the growth of government, which shows signs of having grown beyond the consent of the governed.” The American people will express their reversal to the growing seed of socialism in November 2012.
